Thank you, Mr. Speaker. When we start talking
about carbon in the atmosphere, and we hear things like junk science, etc. ,
that the environmentalists are Chicken Littles, telling us the sky is falling,
I would like to point out to you, Mr. Speaker, that one of the industries that
is the most concerned about the carbon in our atmosphere, Mr. Speaker, is the
insurance industry.
And they are one of the main proponents of
reducing carbon in our atmosphere. Mr. Speaker, that is because global climate
change will lead to sea level rise, one of the issues, and increased severity
of storms. And the insurance industry is extremely concerned—
...there are people who believe that global
warming is not an issue, and I was pointing out to you, Mr. Speaker, that there
is an industry, a very big industry, that is most concerned about global
warming, and that is the insurance industry.
And they're concerned because the sea level
rise and the severity of storms that will be brought about with climate change
and the amount of carbon that's in our atmosphere, will lead to cities like
So you have corporations, like Lloyd's of
London, who are one of the major proponents of limiting carbon in our
atmosphere.

listen to what business, in particular, the insurance industry is saying about
this very, very critical problem. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.”
